Sometimes it's hard to tell those you love exactly how you feel...

We hope these notes/stories written to family and friends from Behcet's Sufferers will help bring a slight understanding about the lives we live, the fears we face, and how we need your constant support to help us go on - day by day.

If you know someone with Behcet's, please read through these pages...they could be speaking to you right now.

Confusion, Diagnosis and Stress

How do you cope with all, and stay sane!
Pox1
My children and I have talked alot about feeling isolated and other kids not understanding or making fun of them. I have tried to tell them that they are not alone with this. Some of the symptoms can be quite embarrasing, but the fact of the matter is, it's still part of your life. Private ulcers, mononucleosis, and pain is very difficult for a child of any age to deal with, without feeling embarrassed. Magic mouthwash is good for Oral ulcers, and topical steroids are good for well "down there"! How to deal with the emotional aspect is a bit different. All I can say is, try encourage them to feel confident and strong, then over time with home strength & outside counseling it can become inner strength for them. I am thankful that I am married and not dating. I don't know how or if I could with all my symptoms, but no matter what I have always fought for what I believe in. If anything, the people you meet may or may not understand, if they don't then maybe they are not meant to be with anyway. Fellow BDers are good support and ya never know who may meet.Date Created: 1/30/2012
